  12. My father always wanted to name his daughter after his mother, and this wish grew even stronger after the death of my grandmother. My mother also liked my name, and even though she'd have liked to call me Cristina, she'd rather please my dad - that's how I ended up with my name. I've done some research and "María" is a name which was very common in the Ancient Greece, although back then it wasn’t María but Maryam, however it is unknown what it means.
