LAST WEEK: REPORTED SPEECH

REPORTED SPEECH PRACTICE

Change the following sentences from Direct Speech to Reported Speech. Pay attention to reporting verbs. Click the button to check the answer.

1. Sarah said, "I am studying here today."

Sarah said that she was studying there that day.

2. Tom said, "I finished the project yesterday."

Tom said that he had finished the project the day before.

3. Mary asked, "Where are you going now?"

Mary asked where I was going then.

Peter denied cheating in the exam.

Anna asked if I had seen John the previous week.

11. The manager instructed us, "Send me the report today."

The manager instructed us to send him the report that day.

12. Lisa suggested, "Let's go out for dinner tonight."

Lisa suggested going out for dinner that night.

13. The customer complained, "This meal is cold."

The customer complained that the meal was cold.

14. Mark complained, "I have been waiting here for two hours."

Mark complained that he had been waiting there for two hours.

15. The guide said, "Yes, I was late." (use "admitted")

The guide admitted being late.
