Its director is Alex Garland. It is starring Alicia Vikander as Ava, Domhnall Gleeson as Caleb and Oscar Isaac as Nathan.
It was nominated for the Oscar for best original screenplay and won the Oscar for the best visual effects.
The film is about a young programmer wich is chosen by a millionarie, who lives apart from society in a house full of technology and secrets. He chooses it to test a robot that has been created by him. Ava begins telling Caleb secrets about Nathan. In the end he escapes betraying Caleb whom he had been using for his plan persuaded by his charms, but a robot has no feelings.
I liked the movie. In the end I expected it differently but it seems coherent and good since anyone would think that Ava and Caleb would escape and live together, but as I said before, the robots have no feelings for that reason he did not feel anything with Caleb, however he did since he is a human.
'Ex Machina': I liked the film although it was very unreal. I think the plot is a bit confussing and the end is different from how I thought it was going to be. It doesn´t look to be in the present because of the human robots. The effects are well-done and very realistc. However, the way that the kinfe enters in the body of Nathan is very unreal, it looks like it is butter. Jorge Durán López 4ESOA
This film shows the way how robots work and the intelligent that they can get. To tell the truth, the film was so futuristic and I don´t like this type of movies. Furthermore, the end was different that I expected and it is good to think different that the film , because it means that you are not sure about how the movie is going to finish. However, it isn´t an appropriate end, due to the message they want to convey.
I liked the film but in some parts I think is a bit boring. I think the plot is very interesting, also I think the end of the film will be different, I thought Ava and Caleb would escape together. The actors and actress acted very well and the effects were very realistic. Ángel Parra García 4A
Hi, I'm Pablo Hoyo Saucedo, and I'm going to tell you my opinion about the Ex-machina movie. It is a science fiction film, directed by Alex Garland that was released in 2015 In 2016, she won the Oscar for the best visual effects and was nominated for the best original screenplay This film is about the experience of a computer programmer (Caleb) of a large company, when he wins a weekend at the company owner's mansion (Nathan), with the aim of participating in an experiment. The owner, has created an artificial intelligence, recreated in a woman-robot (AVA), and wants to verify that its creation is so good, that it could go through human and show human behavior. Ava, befriends Caleb, but she is a fake friendship, because Ava only wants to escape and she needs help from Caleb I liked the movie, and in my opinion the end is the expected. A machine will always be a machine, and it can't show feelings
The clear message of the film is that the machines ara machines and not humans, they don´t have feelings. I think that all the film is a type of Turing Test, you are all the film testing Ava and her "personality", and at the end you think she has passed the test, that is a good "person", but the film shows you the reality, she is a machine, she doesn´t have feelings, she used Caleb only to scape. In general I like the film, it has a good story with good characters and a good message but in my opinion it can be better in some parts.
Review about "Ex Machina" This film has science-ficcion genre but is about a very unusual inssue. The film tells us a story about a young man, Caleb who goes for a week to a remote house to learn about robots. In the house he met Nathan, the inventor of the robots and Caleb interacted with Ava. Diuring the seasons that Caled has with Ava he makes himself some questions and he finally feels something for Ava. In the end of the film Ava scaped from Nathan´s house, killing him and locking Caled into the house. I like this film which wants to show us that the machings don´t have feelings and they don´t make any mistake but humans do, I recomend it. Miguel Jaén Conde 4ºA.
"Ex Machina" is a science fiction film that reflects on the relationships between humans and robots, it also makes the viewer think about the consequences that could have the development of the AI
I think it’s a great film because it makes the viewer rethink various aspects of what the future of humanity could be, and what problems could we have in the future with robots Carlos González Sevilla 4ºA
In spite of the good special effects and that the actress interprets her character very well, I didn't like the film very much. Anyway, I don't usually like robot or futuristic films. It doesn't have much action and is a bit boring. The ending makes you think about the whole theme of the film(if robots can be similar enough to humans to have feelings), and I like that, but I think it could have been better.
The first impression I had of this film was very good: robots, future... I thought it would have more action than it really has. That’s why I found it a little boring in some parts. However, the topic of the film is very interesting: is there any line of diference between robots and humans? The protagonist is Ava: the latest creation of Nathan that is going to be tested by Caleb, a young coder that works in Nathan's company. Ava, during the movie, is going to erase this imaginary line between humans and robots. I expected more of this movie, but has made me think to what extent we humans will be able to arrive in technology and science to create a robot that equals us, above all, in thought, possibilities and feelings.
Hi, I´m Héctor Gómez Hernández and I´m going to make a review about the science fiction film “Ex Machina”. This film is about a computer programmer Caleb who goes to a remote island in which he meet Nathan. Nathan creates androids very similar to humans and he wants to do an experiment with one of its creations, Ava. During the sessions of the experiment Caleb interacts with Ava and she lies him to get away from Nathan's mansion. I really liked the film and I think that the actors and actress acted very well. The special effects were really good. As this film shows us, robots could be very similar to humans, but they won´t ever have feelings. Héctor Gómez Hernández 4º ESO A
Hi!!! I really liked this movie although I expected a completely different ending than it really has been. The purpose of this movie has been to confuse the feelings of a human being with those of a machine which does not have. I think it's something very original
Hi, I'm Isabel Martín and I'm going to make a review of the film 'Ex_Machina'. When I first saw the plot of the film (robots,future...) I thought I wouldn't like it at all, but I was wrong. I liked the film, and I really love the end because I was expecting a happy ending, not that, so it surprised me a lot. Although, there are some scenes that I haven't liked much, for example the scene in which Caleb cuts his arm, because I hate seeing blood, but despite this, I think it is a great film and very entertaining.
In my opinion the film in general is good, the visual effects, the dialogues... although at first it was a bit slow. The plot is very interesting and the setting makes you feel suspense and curious about what is going to happen. Also the characters were very well acted and original. I thought that in the end Caleb and Ava were going to escape toguether,so i'm a bit dissapointed and surprised!
I think that the film in general is very good, and i'ts quite entertaning to see. However, it could have more action, altough the special effects were amazing. I didn't spect the end.
I honestly liked the film a lot, even though I'm not really into science-fiction genre. I think it represents honestly the capacity that machines have to have a personal and artificial intelligence and the behavior of humans while being face to face with them. I personally didn't like so much the ending but I think it has sense because nowadays, robots can't have feelings (yet) so Ava couldn't notice how was Caleb going to feel after leaving him at the research center.
Caleb is a programmer who works for an important internet company. One day, he wins a contest that allows him to spend a week at a private state of Nathan who is a brilliant boss of an important company. When Caleb arrives to the state, he realises that he has been chosen to take part into a test between human and robots. In this case, Ava was the robot and it was a beautiful robot. After having tested Ava for some time, they realise that Ava is more self-sufficient and intelligent than they could imagine. From my point of view, I didn´t like the film, because I don´t enjoy watching science-fiction films.
Clara María Moríñigo Avilés. Review of the film: The film belong to a futuristic genre. It´s amazing the way the film conveys the way things can go in the future. In my opinion the movie is so great and very interesting. All the actors and actresses make an incredible job during the whole film. In my case, I loved Ava´s job.
At the beginning, I thought it was going to be boring and sad but I made a mistake, I jugded so early. That helped me to know that you can’t judge a book by its cover and also you have to enjoy each thing without prejudices. Finally, I loved it and I have discovered that I like this kind of movie.
Hi I'm Laura Román from 4º ESO A and I'm going to give my personal opinion about the film. I really liked the film because it´s actually original and different from other future films. I also liked the way Ava pretends to act like she has real feelings for Caleb to escape from the island and from Nathan, her creator. I wasn´t expecting the end, and I´m surewe all thought Ava was going to save CCaleb and to escape together but instead, she saved herself and tried to live a life as a normal human by her own. We don't know certainly if she actually had feelings or notbecause in the scene in which she looked at the other robots and took their skins to make a body for herself, it seemed like she was feeling really sad.

David González Guerra In my opinion, this film is a good way to show the robots' future. I found this film strange because Nathan create a machine,Ava. Ava has her own mind and she develop it. Nowadays we control robot and machines but as we could see in "Ex-Machina" Ava betrayed her owner. It's not real but maybe in the future we will see something similar.

I liked very much the film, it is a very good film that tries to imagine a future life with robots, and I think it is possible, because if robots are as developed as in 'Ex Machina' we won't know if we are talking to a real person or not.
